It can be incredibly annoying to have Windows update and reboot on its own, not to mention can cause downtime on your Crypto mining operations. On most versions of Windows 10 setting your update preference is easy but if you are using th Windows 10 home edition it is a little more involved.
This is because gpedit.msc (Group Policy Editor) is not enabled on Windows home version. Here is a simple .bat file that will automatically enable this service so you can set Windows update as you want it.
Feel free to open that file with a text editor after you unzip it so you can see that it contains nothing malicious. You should alswys check something like this before running it! Once you are happy it is safe right click and run as administrator. It will take a couple of minutes and prompt you to “hit any key to continue” when done.
Now open “Run” with:
Type in gpedit.msc and hit <enter>.
On the Local Group Policy Editor windows, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates. Click on Edit policy setting to open the Configure Automatic Updates dialog.
On the Configure Automatic Updates dialog, select Enabled in the left pane, in the Options section click on the Configure Automatic Updating Combo Box and in the dropdown list select option 3.
